TOMMI'S SAAB

Saab 96 V4 tuning project

2007-11-17

Been working on various parts:

I had the flywheel machined for the B105, it's now about 1 kg lighter than the original. Most people to whom I have talked about this have recommended only machining off the outer rim (as per the Saab Sport&Rally specifications) for street use.

I also found an old Yazak tachometer (paid 2 euro for it...) that I figured should look just nice on the steering wheel column. It should be in working order...

I think I will try to find more Yazak meters if possible. It would be nice to have a setup of (at least) oil and water temperature and oil pressure meters from the same manufacturer.

Also the 95 stuff has been proggressing a bit:

I have about three FoMoCo carburettors for spare parts, but the unit that will be used is from my dads old 1971 96. The car was only driven a little over 100 000 km, so the carburettor should be pretty good.

One dirty FoMoCo...

4 hours later, one clean one...

And I also cleaned and polished some badges:

Wow. Clean metal shining through.

The rubber bits from under the badges in front fenders. The upper rubber has been cleaned with petrol and fine grade rubbing paste.

A badge polished halfway through. You can see the pitting and scratches clearly on the unpolished side (left). The right hand side is starting to look pretty nice!

Done! Three more to go...

I been shopping...

The original mudflaps for the 95 are no longer availlable, so I bought the nearest thing:

Also, I found a couple of items from the Saabclub fleamarket a few weeks back:

A new lock for the bonnet and new "door knobs" - still in original Saab packages.

And I got some stickers which will become handy for the stroker and the B105:
