TOMMI'S SAAB

Corgi Juniors Whizzwheels
Mercury Cougar XR7 "Sheriff" restoration

I like old toy cars - Saabs especially, but also others.

Lately I have decided to widen my collection of Saab toys, especially the older die cast Saabs. But the collector prices for them, especially when they are in (near) mint condition, are a bit too much for me. So, I have decided not to really collect cars in good condition only, but try and find some in need of repair and fix those to get a nice collection. It will not be worth any real money (no real collector value), but I think the cars will look just as nice as the original.

So I have made a few projects just to get a feel of it. The first project was a pretty simple Dinky Toys Saab 96 fix and below are a few pictures of a Corgi Mercury Cougar that took a little more work.

The starting point: The car was roughly painted over with black, so I took it apart to remove paint from the body.

Paint removed and the window polished.

Designing the "Sheriff"-sticker.

Test print and fitting.

Painting...

... and painted.

Attach the stickers.

Paint the roof black.

Done.
